North Smithfield Automotive Center is family‑owned and operated by Michael and MaryAnne McAlister, proudly serving the North Smithfield community since 2005. Michael opened the shop with a mission to provide reliable service and help others, and thanks to our loyal customers and new faces who give us the chance to earn their trust, NSAC has grown into a busy, full‑service repair center. Auto repair has been part of the McAlister family for generations, and that tradition continues today with Michael’s son, Michael Jr., serving as our lead technician, and the third generation already stepping in as Michael’s grandson, Dominik, works part‑time and learns the family trade. With three generations involved in daily operations, North Smithfield Automotive Center remains committed to honest, dependable automotive care for our community.

Michael started out working on jets in the United States Air Force. After he finished his service, he went to Franklin Institute and graduated at the top of his class, receiving the McTavish Award. Then, he was hired at Wellesley Volkswagen and worked there for 20 years as an automotive technician. Along the way, he went through all the schooling Volkswagen and Mazda had to offer and became a Registered Guild Master Technician with Volkswagen, as well as a Master Technician with Mazda. He also earned his ASE Master certification.
In 1998, Michael opened his own auto repair shop to gain independence and show his children not to fear failure… if he had failed. Over 20 years later, the McAlisters love their life in the shop.
